How to Export Tascam 2488MKII Tracks to Cubase
- 1). Connect your Tascam 248MKII to your PC. Using a 1/4"-to-1/8" audio cable, connect the 1/4-inch plug to the "Stereo Output L" on your Tascam and connect the 1/8-inch plug to the "Line-In" jack on your computer. You can also use a standard 1/4-inch cable and connect a 1/8-inch adapter to one side.
- 2). Open Cubase and turn on the power to your Tascam. The power switch appears along the back panel of your Tascam, on the far right side.
- 3). Create a new audio track in Cubase. Click "Project" on your menu bar. Select "Add Track" from the drop down menu, then choose "Audio" from the second pop-up list. Your track will look like a horizontal bar extending across your project window.
- 4). Select the song on your Tascam containing the track(s) you wish to export. Click the "Menu" button, near the upper right corner of the device. Use your cursor arrow to highlight the "Song" heading on your LCD screen, then press "Enter" to select it. Use the arrow again to select your desired song from the list.
- 5). Isolate the track you want to export. Though tracks appear as horizontal bars in Cubase, they appear as vertical columns on your Tascam, beginning with track 1 in the lower left corner. To isolate a track, click the "Solo" button on the right side of the device, then click the "Mute/Solo" button that appears on the track you want to export. Each track contains a piece of your recording, such as the vocals, bass or drums.
- 6). Click your horizontal track in Cubase to highlight it. Click the "Record" button, which looks like a large dot (like the "Record" button on a remote control). Immediately press the "Play" button in the lower right corner of your Tascam.
- 7). Press the "Stop" button (resembling a square) on your Cubase project window as soon as the audio transfer completes. To export additional tracks, repeat steps 3 through 6.
