Dream Baby Shower Theme Ideas
- Narrowing a "dream" baby shower theme into something more specific may make the planning process easier and more focused. Invitations, decorations, games, favors and the cake should all reflect your specific dream theme. If the baby's nursery will follow the theme, consider using decorations or other items that can be used in the room after the shower.
- Since dreams are often associated with nighttime, warm and fuzzy images of fluffy clouds, a full or crescent moon and bright stars could serve as the focus of your dream theme. The invitations could depict the night sky with a stork holding a baby. The cake could have a similar image. Decorations might include a bowl of cotton balls with a lollipop sticking out as the moon, and star confetti sprinkled on top. Or, a musical mobile that has stars and the moon hanging from a cloud center. Twinkling mini-lights could be strung around the room.
- Use the term "sweet dreams" as the theme of the shower. Fairy tales, nighttime images or nursery rhymes, such as "Hey Diddle Diddle," which includes the line "the cow jumped over the moon," can fit into this theme. Soft colors, crickets chirping, twinkling starlight and sweet lullabies can be incorporated into the ambiance of the shower or the decorations. For example, the line or title from the favorite lullaby of the parents-to-be could serve as the main focus of the shower.
- The focus of the shower could be on the term "I dream of Baby," only use the baby's name if it's known. The invitations could say something to the effect of "Julie is dreaming of a new baby girl, and would love to include you in the baby's world." Ask each guest to write a note to the baby, letting her know what they dream for her. The notes could be collected and sealed in a lockable keepsake box for the baby to open at a later date, such as her 16th or 18th birthday.
- Use inspirational terms, such as "Dream and Believe," to center the shower around. This may create an uplifting ambiance in which the guests can share their dreams and beliefs for the baby. For example, "I dream of (insert) for you" and "I believe you will be (insert)" could be pre-printed on papers for guests to fill out. Use a garden setting, flowers, butterflies, rainbows, fairies or similar images to pull the theme together.
