    • 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the bottom left and right covers from the side of the console by gently prying from the corner until the clips disengage. Tilt the steering wheel all the way down and place the shifter into "D."

    • 2). Pry the cigarette bezel trim with your fingers and disconnect the wires attached to the back of the panel. Take out the center console bezel by slipping a flathead screwdriver under the bezel and prying it way from the dash.

    • 3). Locate the two securing screws, one on each side of the dash and remove them. Pry the center console away from the dash by applying firm pressure to release the clips.

    • 4). Disconnect the wires from behind the center console cover and pull the console out of the car. Locate the four screws securing the radio in the dash and remove them.

    • 5). Pull the stereo out of the Saturn Ion dash and disconnect the wires from the back of the radio. Slide the new stereo into the GM radio mounting kit and secure it per the manufacturer's instructions. Connect the wiring harness adaptor to the original harness and place the GM antenna adaptor over the antenna wire.

    • 6). Plug the wiring harness adaptor and antenna wire into the back of the new stereo and push the entire stereo assembly into the dash. Secure the radio to the dash with the original four screws. Reconnect the battery and turn the radio on.

    • 7). Test the speakers and controls to verify they're properly. Replace the center console carefully by lining up the clips at the bottom and easing the console into place. Secure the panels with screws and replace any trim caps.
