Work-Life Balance: Do You Have Too Much On Your Plate?

103 229
Some people just do not like the food on their plate to touch.
They say it is because then the food all runs together and starts to taste the same.
Some flavors get overwhelmed by the others and it just bothers them to eat that way.
Does this relate to life, and if so how? This idea seemed a bit far-fetched at first, until I realized it related quite closely.
I have heard many people say, "I have so much on my plate right now, and I just cannot take on any more.
" They feel so overwhelmed by all there is to do, and that a good portion of it doesn't get done on time, if at all.
" There seems to be a feeling of working so much, with more and more to do, that other areas of their life are suffering.
Is your plate full to capacity? Do you have so much piled up that's about all it can handle? You know what happens, the plate starts to bend and some things run over the edge, or it starts to leak.
It is so overcrowded that everything is running together, and you cannot figure out what things are, or how to separate them? Does this sound familiar? So much so that it describes your life right now, or parts of it? You are so busy that some areas of your life are being forgotten, possibly even neglected.
Are all the areas of your life overwhelming each other and you? When the plates we have don't hold the food we want to serve, what do we do? What you need is a divider plate.
For your life.
A strong, solid foundation, with time and space for the most important areas of your life.
We get divider plates, good quality so they don't leak (solid foundation), they have sides to keep things on it (support) and there are sections.
Well defined sections (areas) for your food so they stay separated, and you can enjoy them.
This would be great for our lives too! That is, a solid foundation and support to keep it all in place, and then structure to make it all possible.
Systems and routines to allow us to care for all of the important parts of our lives, so we can attend to them, nourish and enjoy them, without neglect, or falling off.
It's essential to have a nice balance, so that items on your plate do not just come from one place.
Well, you can!! There are ways to carve out time and opportunity for your self, your family and your business or career.
Each area fitting well on your plate, to make us feel nurtured and cared for, with just right portions and that is easy to carry.
YOUR ASSIGNMENT: Take a moment right now and list what's on your plate.
Make sure there is a nice balance and make a note if any changes or adjustments need to be made.
You must have some items on your plate that are for you.
Make sure you are including each part of who you are in each part of your day.
