Performing small home improvement projects to your bathroom in your spare time will keep the bathroom looking good and functioning well. Small bathroom improvement projects are a way to help change the look of your house while spending less. These small improvements may actually increase your home's value. - One of the fastest and least expensive ways to make a dramatic change in a bathroom is to paint it. For a 10x12-foot room, even with a top-rated paint and primer combination, you can expect to spend less than $100.00 as of September 2010. One gallon of paint and primer is all you should need for a small bathroom. Besides the paint, you will need a paint roller and tray, painter's tape, a brush and a drop cloth. You can even paint your bathtub or sink. Simply clean the tub and sand it. Rough the surface to give the paint something to adhere to. Brush a bonding agent on the tub, and paint it with a spray gun.
- You can make a major change to the look of your sink and even your whole bathroom in a short amount of time by replacing your faucet with a more attractive one. Only a few short steps are required. Shut off the water by turning a knob under the sink, and drain the water from the faucet. Disconnect the water supply lines; these normally screw off with your hands, but you may need pliers. Remove the faucet from the sink. Install the new faucet following the instructions that came with it. Replace or reconnect your water supply lines. Turn the faucet on, and inspect for any leaks.
- If your shower has an old or dirty looking shower curtain or is in need of a new shower door, you can install an elegant looking glass shower door with relative ease. Drill holes in the wall for the side rails of the door to attached to, and place plastic wall anchors into them. Hang the rails from the anchors. Slide the stationary glass panel into the rails, and attach the sliding door panel and the remaining rails. After caulking the seams, you have completely changed the look of your bathroom.
