Baby Boomers: Do You Have a Passion for Making Money and Having Fun?
Unfortunately, too many people despise what they do. Work that they once found energizing, and exciting, no longer fills them with the same joy as it used to. Yet, despite those negative feelings they keep going, just like a hamster on a wheel. They keep doing the same thing over and over again, often expecting a different result. Or, they keep going just because they fear change, and don't have the courage to take a risk to do something new.
The major excuse baby boomers, and others give for staying put is that they need the money. Yes, you can't argue that we all need money to live, pay bills, and so on. However, it's amazing and even mind-blowing what people endure for a paycheck. How many of you drag yourself out of bed each morning, drive through rain, sleet, snow, and more to go to a job you hate just so you can get money to pay the bills? Then, of course, you have to reverse your situation to return home, only to start all over again the next day.
Let's be honest, seldom does your job these days offer anything kind of security, especially as more and more baby boomers are being offered early retirement, or being laid off because their job is being eliminated, or someone younger and less costly takes your position. This is a real tragedy, especially for those baby boomers nearing the "Golden Years."
If you were truly honest with yourself, you would take a step back to really examine your life. You would look at what gives you pleasure, and what doesn't. Then you would question why do you subject yourself to the negatives in your life? Is the money you earn really worth the pain, suffering, and probably poor health? How about the medications you have to take so that your body, especially your nervous system, can endure all this abuse?
I lived in the rat race for many years before I finally woke up. I truly understand the motivations you have and I empathize with you. I did it day in and day out, but I finally got disgusted. I was no longer excited to go to work (if I ever was), and I was never fulfilled. I knew it was time for me to make a change. Admittedly, I was laid off three times before I was forced into making some new decisions.
You don't have to wait until they put you out to pasture. Every day you have a choice what you do. Naturally, you can keep going doing what you're doing, and putting up with the consequences. Alternatively, you can find the courage to be selfish, and do something new and different.
Admittedly, it's not easy to find the driving force to allow yourself to make drastic changes, unless, of course, you have a true and burning passion. When you're truly passionate about doing something, it's easy to become single-minded, and completely motivated to do what you enjoy doing.
What are you truly passionate about? Is it something that you can turn into a home-based business? Is it something that can help supplement your income, if you're not currently in a position to quit the job you hate. Having a hobby or interest on the side can often balance the negativity you experience in your day job.
You have the choice every day to make changes in your life. You can start off dabbling in one of the many business income opportunities so you gradually pluck up courage to delve deeper as you gain more confidence moving forward.
The key to enjoying your "Golden years" is to find your passion. If you can make money from it, so much the better. The most important thing is that you have fun doing it. It's amazing how hard you work for yourself when you enjoy what you do. And, you have the opportunity, especially with a home-based business to reap rewards beyond compare.
What are you waiting for? Stop dreaming about it, and get out there and do something about it!
