How to Register to Teach Home School

    • 1). Do the job. Start teaching in states that don't require parents to notify school districts of their decision to homeschool. In such cases there are no registration requirements for teaching, or qualifications to teach. The only requirements include specified instructional time and curriculum.

    • 2). Get your name on the paperwork. List yourself as a teacher in states that ask parents for written notice of intent to homeschool. Most of these states want to know who the instructor will be. If there are no teacher qualifications, then all it takes to be registered as a homeschool instructor is to have your name listed as such.

    • 3). Meet the requirements. Bring your education or certification up to state qualifying standards. Getting a baccalaureate degree may prove to be more difficult than moving to a state with fewer requirements, but with that it’s not difficult to get certified to teach.

    • 4). Advertise. Use local papers, website ads, homemade fliers and word of mouth to advertise yourself as a homeschool instructor, if you want to teach other people’s children. Check to see that you meet any state requirements there may be. Then simply convince a homeschooling parent to hire you for the job.
