Baby Scrapbooking Ideas for Infant Teething Layouts

My First Tooth - Although 1 in 2,000 babies is actually born with teeth, most infants will see their first teeth appear sometime between four and seven months of age. However, some babies won't get their first teeth until they are almost one year old.

For most babies, the first tooth is one of the bottom two middle teeth. In your scrapbook layout, remember to jot down how old baby was when his first tooth popped through and which tooth it was.

A New Smile - Try to get two similar photos of your child so you can create a quick "Before and After" comparison layout. You can use this baby scrapbook layout to talk about how your child's new smile has coincided with changes in his personality and a growing sense of independence. For example, the arrival of his first tooth often means your baby will begin eating solids for the first time.

Teething Is No Fun! - The teething process can be very uncomfortable for some babies. Symptoms of infant teething can range from drooling and gum swelling to irritability and sleep disturbances. Make a scrapbook page that talks about some of the ways you've helped your baby cope with teething pain, such as using teething rings or letting him suck on a wet washcloth.

Embellishing Your First Baby Tooth Scrapbook Page

One fun way to embellish a first baby tooth layout is to print your title in a decorative font that helps to reinforce the theme.

The free fonts Toofy Grin and Bite Me are both good choices for this type of scrapbook page. If you opt to create a layout that has no title, try highlighting key words in your journaling with the decorative font of your choice.

If you have access to die cut machine such as the Sizzix or a Cricut electronic cutter, you can make a white cardstock tooth to decorate with a cute face. To give it a shiny appearance, you can use a heat gun and clear pigment ink to coat it with a layer of UTEE. Add googly eyes for a whimsical look and mount the embellishment on your layout with foam adhesive squares to give it a bit of dimension.

If you're looking for purchased embellishments for your first baby tooth scrapbook layout, remember to look beyond products that are specifically labeled as being for baby's first year. Embellishments for a first trip to the dentist or the first tooth lost would be easily adapted to fit on your baby scrapbook page.
