    • 1). Turn the tractor engine off and if it was recently driven and allow at least ten minutes for the glow plugs and surrounding components to cool. This will prevent serious burns.

    • 2). Lay the replacement glow plug wires out on a flat surface from shortest to longest. This will make the match-up and replacement process easier.

    • 3). Locate the first glow plug to wire. Always start at one side to avoid wire mix-up or crossing. The number of glow plugs and location will vary based on tractor manufacturer and engine size. Remove the glow plug wire from the glow plug by gently tugging on the wire at the boot where the wire meets the plug.

    • 4). Trace the wire to the glow plug relay and unplug it. Depending on the engine model there may be a tab to depress to remove the wire.

    • 5). Match the old plug wire to the new wires to find the correct length for that specific plug. Plug the wire into the glow plug, route the wire the same way as the old one and plug it into the glow plug relay. Repeat these steps for each glow plug wire.
