"Big Brother" 14 "Resets"--Coaches to Compete After All
Thursday night's Big Brother had been advertised as the third elimination challenge, but no one was eliminated.
Big Brother's 14th season has another, bigger about-face the same night. Earlier in the season host Julie Chen announced that the returning houseguests ("four of the most successful Big Brother players of all-time") wouldn't be competing against the new houseguests, but instead would be serving as coaches to the other contestants.
Each returning houseguest was assigned a team of three new contestants to coach.
But then Big Brother announced America's Vote, which offered fans the chance to vote on whether to let the coaches compete as regular players. America voted to do so and Chen gave the coaches the option to chose themselves, "If you chose to give up coaching, you would reset the game right here, right now...If just one of you [votes to 'reset'], the game is reset and all four coaches will enter the game as players."
Three coaches (Dan Gheesling, Britney Haynes and Janelle Pierzina) voted to reset, while "Boogie" Mike Malin voted not to, meaning the game officially reset, the teams were disbanded and the coaches will now be competing alongside the other houseguests as regular players.
The twist also meant there was no eviction and it nullified Shane Meaney's week-long reign as Head of Household.
As though the game had restarted, the 12 houseguests all began a new Head of Household competition that will determine the season's fourth HoH, who will be revealed during Sunday night's Big Brother broadcast.
