How to Bait Worms
- 1). Hold the bait you are using next to your fishing hook. If the worm is the same length as the hook or only slightly larger, push one end of the worm onto the hook and thread the entire worm onto the curved hook.
- 2). Thread multiple small worms onto one hook instead of just one. This method allows the worms to wriggle freely in the water which may be more attractive to fish. If step one isn't producing results, push your fishing hook through the center of several small worms and try again.
- 3). Pierce a large worm, such as a night-crawler, with your hook twice. Push the hook all the way through the worm approximately 1/3 of the length of the worm away from one end. Push the same hook through the worm again 1/3 of the length from the opposite end of the worm. The worm should still be able to wriggle and attract fish, but it is secured to the hook so you won't lose your bait.
- 4). Chop worms into pieces with a knife to bait small hooks used to catch small fish. Push one or several chunks of the worm onto each hook. The piece of worm should be small enough that it doesn't hang off the end of the hook. If you cannot push the piece all the way onto the hook and past the barb, it will come off easily in the water.
