Arcade Games in Fun Parks
- Dance Dance Revolution, or DDR, is a rhythm game that tests the player's quickness, timing and endurance. The apparatus consists of a screen on which arrows scroll in time with a particular song, and a metal dance platform made up of four directional arrow buttons, command buttons and a support bar. Most machines have two adjacent platforms, allowing two players to dance simultaneously.
- Whether the prize is candy, stuffed animals, movies, video games or other items, prize grabbers are a staple in fun park arcades. Players insert a coin or token and get a chance to grab a prize by maneuvering a robotic claw using a joystick. Once the claw is positioned to the player's liking, he presses a button that causes the claw to lower and grab onto the desired prize, and ideally hold on to it long enough to drop it into the prize area for the player to claim.
- The basketball machine is an arcade classic that tests players' hand-eye coordination. Players insert a coin or token and get a number of basketballs which they attempt to put through the hoop in a given amount of time. As the seconds wind down, the backboard will begin to move toward and away from the player, making it harder to score. The resulting score yields the corresponding number of tickets as a reward.
- From Mortal Kombat to Tekken and everything in between, fighting games allow players to show off their button-mashing skills against either the computer or each other. Players insert coins to obtain a certain number of "lives," or "continues," which afford them additional tries if they lose. Tickets are rewarded as the player progresses through increasingly difficult stages of simulated combat.
