Danger in Headlamps Flickering
- Headlights allow drivers to see and be seen by other drivers in nighttime conditions. Flickering headlights will actually reduce the driver's visibility and focus. Other road users may also become distracted or lose their ability to focus because of flickering headlights.
- The Car Care Council stresses that you must have your car's lights examined at once if they exhibit any problems. Take your car to a professional mechanic or garage, and explain the issue. Flickering or dimming lights are symptoms of typical wear on a car; replace your lights periodically.
- The National Safety Council recommends that car owners clean their headlights at least once a week -- especially if driving after dark. Clean headlights using a polishing compound and cloth or a prepackaged polishing kit, available from car accessory retailers.
