A $5 Billion commitment from U.S. President Obama towards the development of a domestic battery industry is an example of one public-sector investment fueling an energy revolution. Demand for lithium, used in the manufacture of batteries, is predicted to grow 20% per annum, according to the USGA.

American Lithium Minerals Inc. (AMLM.OB) owns rights to 16,000 acres in Montezuma Valley, Nevada, non-coincidently North America's only operating Lithium mine, with 700 Million Kg of Lithium [est.].

The National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Battery Cell Manufacture states that "Lithium ion batteries are anticipated to replace gasoline as a major source of energy in future cars and military vehicles". Concurrently, President Obama pledged to have 1 Million American-made hybrid vehicles on the road by 2015, an initiative supported by further funding, for instance as with Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing program for battery development being awarded $25 Billion.

American Lithium Minerals Inc. (AMLM.OB) is positioned in an attractive (competition few and far between) and high-growth industry, where the company is a target of significant public and private sector capital investment. When supply is scarce (think lithium resources in the U.S.), and demand is increasing (think energy shift with the Obama administration) American Lithium Minerals Inc. is seen to control a significant asset in their lithium deposits.

This has led conglomerates to seek a competitive edge and secure share in an emerging market. In other words - private sector investment. 'Industrial giants invest in lithium', an article by Simon Moores, Mark Watts, reported that South Korea's biggest steel producer (Pohang Iron And Steel Co.) and the world's largest car maker (Toyota Motor Corp.) recently invested in junior lithium companies to secure supply of the mineral resource.

Similarly, a press release in early June reported that "Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) [had] agreed to invest $4,000,000 in the Borate Hills Project to be a Joint Venture Partner in the [American Lithium Minerals Inc. (AMLM.OB)] project." This event has sparked interest in investment communities worldwide, who speculate the price per share of American Lithium Minerals Inc. (AMLM.OB) may be getting a big boost.
