A teachable moment is an unplanned opportunity for teachers to introduce a topic, peek student interest, teach a valuable life lesson, or engage students in dialogue about a topic that came in during a classroom discussion. A teachable moment provides teachers with an unplanned learning opportunity. Sometimes these moments provide students with the most valuable lessons because they almost always originate from class discussions and allow the teacher a perfect chance to infuse some knowledge that would not otherwise be introduced.
