    Eastern Tennessee

    • The Appalachian Mountains run through the easternmost portion of Tennessee, and it is here that campgrounds are most numerous. Bristol Campground, one of three campgrounds in the Bristol area, is mere minutes from Bristol Motor Speedway. Other campgrounds in the northeasternmost portion of Tennessee can be found around Baileyton, Kingsport, Jonesborough and several other towns. Farther west sees an even wider array of campgrounds, including over a dozen sites in the Pigeon Forge area, as well as large numbers around Townsend, Sevierville and Gatlinburg. Campgrounds are less numerous in the Knoxville area, though the Southlake RV park is located just south of the city on Highway 33.

    Upper Cumberland and Southeastern Tennessee

    • Central-eastern Tennessee, running from Chattanooga in the south to Cumberland and Scott counties in the north, bears a number of campgrounds around notable towns. There are two campgrounds in close vicinity to Chattanooga itself, as well as the Chattanooga North KOA northwest of the city in Cleveland, Tennessee. Several campgrounds are also available in the Spring City and Benton areas. In the Cumberland area, several campgrounds are available around Crossville, where Routes 70 and 127 meet near Interstate 40. Two campgrounds are also available north on the 70 in Jamestown.

    Central Tennessee

    • If you are traveling to Nashville, you will likely be looking for a campsite near the city itself so you can take in the sights on successive days. Fortunately, there are four campgrounds in the vicinity of the city, Stonegate RV Park being the closest one to downtown Nashville; the other three are off Highway 155 east of the Cumberland River. You can also find parks farther east of the city in Lebanon, or north in Goodlettsville. Campgrounds are sparser farther south, though they can be found around Columbia, Lynchburg, Lawrenceburg, Manchester and Clifton.

    Western Tennessee

    • Campgrounds are more difficult to find toward the western edge of the state. While there are four conveniently clustered around Memphis, including the Elvis Presley Blvd RV Park just two blocks from Graceland, there are none in the Jackson area. If you are looking for a park in the Jackson area, your closest options are Beech Bend Campground in Decaturville and Parkers Crossroads RV Park and Campground, both east of the city. In northwestern Tennessee, campgrounds can be found in the area of Buchanan, Springville, Tiptonville and Union City.
