How to Start a Remote Assistant

    Remote Assistance and Windows Messenger

    • 1). Go to "Start" menu, click "All programs," select "Windows Live" and "Windows Live Messenger."

    • 2). Sign in using your user name and password.

    • 3). Click the "Tools" menu, select "Ask for Remote Assistance" and select the email address of the person with whom you are going to have a session. After the person accepts the invitation, you get a dialog box to confirm permission.

    • 4). Click "Yes" in order to continue. The person receives the invitation, takes control of your PC and starts to help.

    Remote Assistance and Email

    • 1). Click "Start," select the "Help and Support" and click it.

    • 2). Click the "Invite a friend to connect to your computer with Remote Assistance" under "Ask for assistance" heading.

    • 3). Click "Invite someone to help you," enter the email address of the person you are inviting.

    • 4). Click "Continue" and the "Email an Invitation" page appears.

    • 5). Write your name and type a message summary of your problem.

    • 6). Click "Continue" and set an expiration time of the session and a password.

    • 7). Click "Send Invitation" button and the wizard confirms the invitation success. Once the person accepts the invitation, she can take control of your PC to help.

    Remote Assistance and Sending a File

    • 1). Click "Start," select "Help and Support" and click it.

    • 2). Click the "Invite a friend to connect to your computer with Remote Assistance" under "Ask for assistance" heading.

    • 3). Click on "Invite someone to help you" and select "Save Invitation as a file."

    • 4). Write your name and set an expiration time of the session.

    • 5). Click "Continue," type the password and click "Save invitation." You will see the "Save File" dialog box; save the file in "My Documents."

    • 6). Open the "My Documents" folder, select the file and click "Email this file."

    • 7). Type the address of the person and send the email; the person receives the email message. After sending the email, inform the person about the password. Once the person accepts the remote assistance invitation, she can take control of your PC to help.
