Tips for Living Well with Back Pain

When you lie on your back, a little attention to your head and neck position may go a long way. Many people feel more comfortable when they use a pillow under their head or neck. The key is to place the pillow so that it supports your alignment and keeps you pain free. This may be different for different people.
If you have a loss of cervical curve (also called a flat neck posture, in which your neck is flexed most of the time) a pillow under your neck may be just the thing.

But if your neck muscles tend to get tense, especially when you move your head back (neck extension), a pillow under your head may help you get more comfortable.
