Natural Remedies For Yeast Infections - Do They Really Work?

It's very simple, we can't live without bacteria.
They are all over us, inside and outside.
We need them to digest our food, keep our external interfaces clean (That's your nose, mouth, anus, vagina, penis glands to name but a few)and, believe it or not, fight all sorts of infections.
The modern drug barons have taught us to regard them as germs that must be eradicated using the latest antibiotic.
This can shift the balance and cause discomfort, pain and discharges.
The most common culprits are Candida Albicans.
This is a fungus normally present in the human body.
It can be found in warm and moist parts of the body that are exposed to the outside world in one way or another.
If you are taking antibiotics, this can cause yeast to grow, as the normal resident bacteria are also killed allowing the yeast too grow unchallenged.
Before we go further, you should always consult a physician if you think you have a yeast infection, just to make sure it isn't something more serious.
I suggest you explore natural remedies for yeast infections before you move to medication.
So then, let's talk about a few natural remedies for yeast infections before you ask for antibiotics.
Unless you are a vampire from a gothic horror story Garlic, or Garlic oil, is one such option to treat your yeast infection.
Garlic is natural and has properties which fight the Candida yeast keeping the yeast infection in check.
It's also okay to eat garlic to try and help the problem.
Garlic oil or a mash applied to the affected area may help but I have never tried inserting it.
By the way, if you choose the garlic route, I suggest you put the whole family on it.
Some people say that sugary foods increase Candida growth.
I don't believe this and limit sugar intake as part of a general diet and life style choice.
Probiotics apparently work by holding back the growth of the bacteria that cause yeast to develop, because of this, probiotics are suggested as a natural remedy.
Preliminary lab studies indicate that Lactobacilli can block the growth of Candida Albicans in the vagina and other regions.
Some clinical trials support these finding, however, the quality of these studies has generally been poor, making it difficult to draw definite conclusions.
Despite what you have read on the web during your research, to gargle with garlic rich fluids and insert yogurt soaked tampons into yourself may help.
Please try and stay away from antibiotics.
Unless a serious bacterial infection has taken hold, have a think about your lifestyle.
Are you eating properly? Doing a little exercise? And BTW, five or six showers a day with antibacterial soap will almost always exacerbate the problem.
Keep yourself clean, but don't overdo it.
Don't forget the good bacteria.
You need them.
