  • 1). Cut two circular pieces from a plywood sheet using a 3-inch hole saw.

  • 2). Drill a 1/4 inch hole in the center of each plywood disk.

  • 3). Cut a section of 1/4 inch diameter wood dowel which is the length of the width of both plywood disks plus a proposed 1/5 inch gap between them.

  • 4). Drill a small hole in the wood dowel to feed the string through. Feed a piece of string through the hole. Make a loop in the end of the string. Pass the loose end of the string through the loop and pull it tight to make an overhand knot. Pull the string through the hole in the dowel. The knot will stop the string from passing completely through the hole.

  • 5). Plug the wood dowel into the drilled holes on each plywood disk. Leave a 1/5 inch gap between the disks.

  • 6). Make a loop in the loose end of the string. Feed the loose end down through the loop, around the neck, back over and down through the loop. Pull the knot tight to make a bowline knot and leave a finger loop in the string.

  • 7). Roll up the string in the the yo yo and play with it.
