The Many Series of the Transformers
The Transformers Cartoon was a massive hit in the 1980?s, with popularity that has lasted to this day. Constantly being reinvented and reimagined into new Tv series and the popular live action movies, it's hard to keep up with different series and toylines. What many don't realise is that there are well over 10 different animated series of the Transformers, each with it's own cast of characters and plot.
Transformers Generation 1 & The (1987) Animated Film
The show that starte dit all was original a glorified toy commercial that exploded with popularity. Follow Optimus Prime and the Autobots as they flee Cybertron, their home planet, in search of energy. As the planet is drained of energy from the 'Great war' with the evil Decepticons follow and intercept the Autobot ship and invade. Megatron, leads his decepticons in the battle which causesthe ship crash land into on earth, where they stay for 4 million years, to be awakened in 1984. It is then that the great war continues on earth!
Transformers Generation 2
As a strategy to sell Generation 2 toys, Hasbro re-release the original cartoon series with new CGI special effects and intro. This series was played for years on TV but has sunk in popularity, as fans opt for the original edit of the cartoon.
Transformers: Headmasters
The Headmasters were a popular sector of the Transformers toys. They originally appeared in the Season 4 of the original cartoon, but Japan chose not to air the 4th season of the series instead creating a unique Japanese series called Headmasters. Picking up where Season 3 left off, and Galvatron is on the rampage and Optimus Prime is back. During the first battle some mysterious new Transformers arrive from outerspace, known as the Headmasters!
Transformers Super God Masterforce
Masterforce is the Japanese follow up to Headmasters. Years after the Headmasters and Transformers left Earth, a different band of Autobots arrive to guard Earth disguised as Pretenders (Robots with human disguises). The Decepticons are also on Earth as Pretenders, opting for the form of vicious Monsters. As the God Masters arise throughout the show, a special character Ginrai, a truck driver from Earth, quickly finds himself the master of a transforming truck, which transforms to become God Ginrai, a massive Autobot warrior! With some excellent animation and plots, this is truly a classic Japanese Transformers Series

Transformers Victory
Years after the events of Transformers Masterforce, the new Autobot leader Star Saber continues to fight the waragainst the Decepticons and their leader Dezsaras. with an all new cast of characters as well as a few old ones (including cameos from Ginrai and Generation 1 characters Perceptor and Wheeljack), Victory is another exciting Japanese cartoon with excellent action and animation.

Transformers Zone
The Autobot leader Star Saber has gone missing, leaving Dai Atlas to battle against the Great Decepticon Generals - Devastator, Menasor, Bruticus, Trypticon, Predaking, Abominus, King Poseidon, Overlord and BlackZarak, who are under the command of the 3 face insectoid Violenjiger. Although this series was never produced pas the pilot, it has only one episode that was later released as a direct to video OVA. In true Japanese spirit, the animation is top notch, and action that is exciting.
Beast Wars
Optimus Primal and Megatron crash land on prehistoric Earth after warping through time during battle. The Maximals and Predacons (descendants of the Generation 1 AUtobots and Decepticons)assume the form of transforming animals or 'beasts' to avoid internal damage from energon radiation. The Maximals battle to prevent Megatron and the Predacons from changing the past and destroying the ancient Autobots (who are currently hibernating in emergency stasus until 1984). With the some of the most exciting CGI action scenes you'll see on television you'll find watching Beast Warsand exciting adventure with many surprises in store.
Beast Wars II
Beast Wars II tells the story of a war between Lio Convoy's and his team of Maximals and Galvatron's army of Predacons on the planet Gaia. As both sides battle over the Angolmois energy, a mysterious energy source, many strange events and mysterious properties of Angolmois begin to take place during their war. Beast Wars II hasn't been officially released in english (or even with subtitles), making it a rarely seen Television show outside of Japan.
Beast Wars Neo
After Beast Wars II the battle between the Maximals and Predacons continuess for possession of the energy source Angolmois. A lone "one-man army" Big Convoy is assigned to be a teacher to a band of young Maximals to fight against Magmatron and the Predacons. Throughout the show Unicron, a dark allpowerful god, arrives forcing both Maximals and Predacons to join forces inorder to stop him. Just like Beast Wars II this show is rarely seen outside Japan since it hasn't been released in English.
Beast Machines
The Beast Wars are over and the victorious Maximals are back on Cybertron. There is one problem, they can't remember landing on Cybertron and the planet has been taken over by Megatron.Megatron has created a new army know as Vehicons. Once again the Maximals are forced to change their form, and learn to transform all over again. Another smooth CGI based production, Beast Machines is a must see for die-hard transformers fans.
Transformers: Robots in Disguise
The evil Predacons and their leader megatron are on Earth and have kidnapped the planet's foremost energy expert, Dr. Kenneth Onishi. The Autobots and their leader, the courageous Optimus Prime, hidden undercover on Earth disguised as vehicles, try their best to rescue Dr. Onishi and defeat Megatron's predacons as well as the newly created group: the Decepticons.
Transformers Armada
Optimus Prime and Megatron go to battle once again! This time Megatron is after the Mini-cons, a race of miniture robots that offer great power. Anoth erintersting series filled with exciting action and new characters, the shwo eventually turns to a battle against the famous planet destroyer: Unicron.
Transformers Energon
The war of Transformers Armada has been won by the Autobots, and the same characters (in new robot forms) have formed an alliance with the humans and the Decepticons. As Megatron is gone, both factions are under Optimus Prime's command, until Scorponok and the Terrorcons, under the command of Alpha Q, attack Earth and the Autobots. Shortly after Megatron's body is found within Unicron and revived to lead the Decepticons once more.
Transformers Cybertron
Cybertron is in danger of being swallowed by a black hole. The Autobots evacuate to Earth, being closely followed by the Decepticons. A new universe with new Characters is born. The keeper of time and space, an ancient Autobot known as Vector Prime, arrives to help the Autobots uncover the Cyber Planet Keys and save Cybertron. The show expands into many different planets and introduces many new characters as well as some exciting CGI action.
Transformers Animated
A little more toonish in animation style, Transformers animated focuses on smaller battles in the beginning of the show, that slowly compound into another battle on Earth between the Autobots and Decepticons. Carrying the All-Spark, the Autobots are attacked by Megatron (believed to have died in the great war years earlier), when they crash into Earth. Transformers Animated is the only animated series where Optimus Prime is not the supreme leader of all Autobots, instead being lead by Ultra Magnus.
Transformers Prime
The latest Transformers series titled 'Prime' is an excellent CGI animation with top notch action sequences.Teh characters follow the design of the Live Action Movies very closely but with a completely different storyline. Optimus and his Autobots are trapped on Earth with no ship to leave for home, it is then that Megatron arrives and begins another great Transformers War!
