    Ways to Hang Mirrors

    • Mirrors will dazzle an entry way or foyer when you install them floor to ceiling. Not only will this open up a small space, but the reflections coming in from the rest of the space will sparkle at night. To mount the mirrors, make a mark where you want to hang the mirror. Using a threaded screw, hammer the screw into the wall. If you have a stud, you can use a regular nail. Make sure you line up the mirrors correctly. Always use a level to ensure they are straight.

For a sleek design for a small kitchen, install mirrors as the backsplash. Hang them behind the sink and prep space to create the feeling of a larger area. To hang, you can use adhesive, which is less messy and does not require hardware. Simply apply the adhesive to the back of the mirror and attach directly to the wall. This allows for a seamless installation where you won't have any noticeable brackets.

For a living room, install two large mirrors above the fireplace side-by-side. Simple glass mirrors, without a frame, are perfect for this project. Installing larger frames requires a wire attachment and preferably a stud. Thread a screw on either side of the back of the mirror. The mirror will need to be backed with wood or some other mounting material. Using the screws, twist the wire securely around the head. Take the wire and string across to the other mounted screw. Make the wire almost taught but allow a little wiggle room. Using a hammer, gently tap a nail into the wall that is sturdy enough to hold the mirror. Hang the mirror over the nail using the mounted wire. The end design will bring in light from the outside, as well as creating a focal point in your room.

For a powder room, hang tall framed mirrors around the walls for a bold effect. Hang them side-by-side using wire attachments. Similar to hanging frameless large mirrors, mirrors with frames, especially if antique, require a small screw so as to not split the old wood. Typically they are also very heavy so make sure you have stronger wire to hold up the mirror. The result will open up the space and create a bold statement for your guests.
