Any reference of Goa is incomplete till the time we make a mention of the magnificent churches.
These churches are probably the second most loved attraction of Goa after the beaches.

The three storeyed Basilica of Bom Jesus is dedicated to the infant Jesus.
It has the mortal remains of St Francis of Xavier, the patron saint of Goa, as its main attraction.
The Light and Sound show on the Jesus, St Francis Xavier and Blessed Joseph Vaz is an added attraction.
Se Cathedral, the largest church in Asia, stands right opposite the Basilica of Bom Jesus and appears every bit grand.
The highlight of this church is its Tuscan exterior and the 'Golden Bell', the rich sound of which is responsible for it being so named.
The interiors of the Church of our Lady of Divine Providence is beautifully embellished and so is that of St Francis of Assisi.
Both these churches are close by the Se Cathedral.
Apart from the architecture, the 17th century paintings on the life of St Francis and the displays in the Archaeological Museum including sixty portraits of the governors of Goa, a ship model and a statue of St Catherine also impress visitors in the church of St Francis of Assisi.

The first was built by him to mark his entry into Goa while the other was constructed to signify his victory over Yusuf Adil Shah.
