How to Get More From Your Garden Patio
While the patio may not necessarily be the very most attractive part of a garden you see (that honour probably goes to the flower beds), it is the most enjoyable in many ways and has the most uses whether you want to relax or play.
As a kid who loved a garden as a space to play in, the patio was my favourite spot simply because it was hard enough for me to enjoy riding my bike on, practicing my stilts on, or using the pogo stick without getting stuck in the ground like a flagpole.
Now though, as an adult, I appreciate the ability to be able to bring a chair outside with me and sit and relax that way without worrying about getting my feet covered in mud.
If you don't see the appeal of the humble garden patio, then perhaps you just haven't worked out how to get the most of yours.
Here then we will look at some of the most useful ways you can improve your garden patio and so start truly enjoying that space in your garden Table and Chairs First of all, the best way to make use of your garden patio is by taking out some tables and chairs.
This way you will have somewhere to sit and chat, or somewhere to sit and relax, and this is perfect whether you want to entertain guests over a candlelit dinner (very romantic for a date) or whether you want to enjoy sitting outside on your own with a glass of wine or a cup of tea.
Lighting If you're sitting outside with a glass of wine, then perhaps staring up at the stars and reflecting on the nature of existence will be enough entertainment for you.
If not though, then you may want to take a good book outside with you or maybe even a Game Boy.
Either way, having some light so that you can enjoy your chosen form of entertainment will help you make use of your garden patio 24 hours a day.
Shelter But don't just enjoy your patio throughout the day, make sure you can enjoy it throughout the year too come rain or shine by having a sheltered potion.
This way you can sit out here and listen to the highly relaxing sound of rain on the roof, and never will huddling around a tea be so satisfying.
This also means you can enjoy having cushions for your garden furniture without worrying about them getting wet and ruined.
Music If you want to set the atmosphere in another way, then you can take care of that yourself by playing some calming background music - and this is great for garden parties too.
If you have a conservatory, or a living room with sliding doors, then make sure there are music playing facilities in there so that you can crank it up and enjoy it from wherever you're sitting outside.
