    • 1). Click the "Menu" button on the camera.

    • 2). Scroll the select option down to "Manual." This enters the camera's manual setting, in which a number of shooting options can be adjusted.

    • 3). Use the roller on the left of the camera to adjust light settings.

    • 4). Press the exposure dial once to adjust the aperture for the setting. Use the dial to select the aperture setting that is right for the image you want to shoot. The aperture is the hole in the lens through which light can travel. Aperture also is referred to as "f-stops" for the calibrations such as f/22, f/16, f/11, etc. The lower the number (from 22 to 1.8), the more light is allowed into the lens. For low light settings, place the aperture higher until the image becomes clear.

    • 5). Press the exposure dial again to enter the manual gain adjustment. Gain amplifies the brightness from the camera's image sensory without having to change the amount of light allowed into the lens. Essentially the image is brightened, but may become grainy. Use gain to add brightness when none of the aperture settings are quite right. Adjust the gain as needed until the image through the camera is clear.
