My Laptop Stopped Connecting to Comcast
- 1). Check the power on both the Comcast cable modem and the wireless router; both need to be powered on. If you are not using wireless Internet, only the cable modem needs to be on. If one is powered off, your laptop will be unable to access the Internet.
- 2). Monitor the lights on the modem and router, and wait for all of them to turn green. Any light that is red or orange means that the router and modem have not finished booting up.
- 3). Check the cable connection running from the modem to the router, or from the modem to the laptop. If the cable is not secured into both connection ports, the laptop will not be able to access the Internet.
- 4). Restart the laptop computer. Sometimes the computer isn't booting correctly, so restarting the computer may correct the problem with the Internet connection.
- 5). Enable the wireless receiver on the laptop. If the wireless receiver is off, your computer will be unable to access the Internet. Right-click the wireless icon on the taskbar and select "Enable" to turn on the Internet connection.
- 6). Contact Comcast if the problem continues at 800-COMCAST begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 800-COMCAST end_of_the_skype_highlighting. There may be a problem with the connection, or Comcast may not have received your last billing statement.
