We all want a clean mattress but what do we do when it gets dirty? It's scary to think of things such as dust mites or other allergens living in our mattress.
There are however simple steps that you can do on a regular basis to prevent them from interrupting your sleep.
Protect Your Mattress A great way to keep your mattress clean is to cover it with something.
They are covers designed specifically for mattresses that can protect it.
Make sure when deciding on what one to get, you choose one that can be washed.
There are also a few covers that are designed to keep dust mites out of your mattress.
Remove Dust There are many elements that can accumulate inside your mattress.
Dust mites, dust and dander are just a few.
Even for people who do not duffer with allergies will begin to notice when dust and dirt start to buildup.
You can eliminate or even just decrease dust by vacuuming your mattress.
Shampoo You can remove any surface stains, dirt and soil with any upholstery cleaner.
Follow the directions exactly like they are on the bottle.
You can also use warm water and a detergent that is mild to clean your mattress.
Using the suds put it directly on the soiled area.
It's best to use a sponge.
After washing the area, wipe clean with a clean towel and allow the mattress to become fully dry.
Flip Your mattress Another way to prevent dust mites and dust is to flip your mattress.
It's recommended to do this every 6 months or so.
This can be done with two people and all depends on the size of your mattress.
