Introduction and Materials

I am a big Jane Austen fan, which is obvious if you?ve looked at any of my Jane Austen Earring Projects. I love nothing better than sitting down to enjoy a romantic Victorian novel where the characters are chatting over a cup of tea. This project is yet another way for me to combine two things I love, jewelry and high-tea.

I have made this into a pendant thinking I could wear it on a simple gold chain.

However, you could also make two and attach them to ear wires to make a pair of earrings. To add to the Victorian theme, I used a vintage bead from my collection.

You?ll need:
*1 antique gold-colored pewter teapot
1 ? 6mm aqua-colored crystal bead
1 ? 2 inch gold-colored headpin
Round-nosed pliers
Flat-nosed pliers
Wire cutters

*This teapot component is from Fire Mountain Gems and Beads, item number 6487FD.

For those who can?t wait to see the finished pendant, just select the last step linked on this page and it will send you to the end of the project.

Add Head Pin

1. Insert the head pin through the bottom of the teapot component. You?ll notice that the head of the pin will sit flush up against the pot?s bottom.

Add Bead and Lid

2. Now add on the crystal and the top of the pot, and push them up against the pot?s bottom to that the bottom and top of the teapot component hug the bead.

3. Now, make the bale on the pendant by using round-nosed pliers to make a wrapped loop at the top of the head pin. Make sure that you make this loop large enough to fit around your intended chain if you plan to wear it as a pendant.

That?s it! Isn?t it adorable? Plus I like the idea of using one of my precious vintage beads in this pendant. I find them hard to part with sometimes, but this way I just need to use one.
