Teenagers Eating Healthy

You have had the joy of observing your child being a baby, toddler, younger child, older child and now a teenager.
It has been a wonderful journey as you look back on those found memories.
Now you are having fears (or at least a small fear) that comes with the idea of teenagers.
Of course, the least of these fears is probably whether or not they are going to be eating healthy when they are out on their own and especially when they are with their friends.
Let's look at your fear with a little common sense and alleviate most of your concerns.
How was your child eating throughout their earlier years? Were they pretty normal? Did they end up generally eating well? Did they have a snack now and then that was not so great? Along the way you probably modeled eating habits that were pretty healthy.
It is amazing how much influence you have had on your children even when you think they were not listening.
Chances are if you were to observe them (not such a good idea) when they are out with their friends you would be quite pleased.
Now some of you are genuinely concerned that you did not model healthy eating behaviors as well as you would have liked.
As a matter of fact you sincerely believe you did not raise your child very well as it relates to food choices.
Now they are a teenager and you are genuinely afraid that they will choose their food terribly and be in ill health often.
Let's look at a couple of ideas that will help you feel that you are doing what you can to change their habits.
One of the best things you can do is to have your teenager help you plan your meals for the week.
They may need some encouragement from you and they may surprise you.
When the two of you, or more if you have more than one teenager, have completed your weekly menu then it's time to put the shopping list together.
After searching through the cupboards and/or pantry for what is needed to prepare the menu items you and your teenager are beginning to form quite a team.
Next of course is the market.
You and they are now shopping for all that you have found needed for the weeks meals.
Chance are that your relationship is growing a bit closer and you are beginning to impart some helpful information about eating well.
