Security Guard Policies

    Monitoring

    • Security guards in every industry must keep a close eye on all activity on or near the property in which they are stationed, whether they are protecting a government building or an armored vehicle. Some patrol the area on foot, while others monitor it by standing in the same spot and guarding an entrance.

    Investigating

    • Security guards are put in place to prevent criminal activity, but also to investigate if misconduct does occur. While security guards aren't trained detectives, they do need to ask questions should things go awry, aiming to find out the who, what, where, when and how of a situation.

    Informing

    • Almost all security guards are expected to make patrons of a property know what is acceptable, making sure customers and visitors are aware of the rules. While most people already know what is acceptable and law-abiding, security guards sometimes must inform patrons of rules specific to the premises.
