  The Topsail area encompasses a 26-mile barrier island, located on the southeast coast of North Carolina about 25 miles from Wilmington. People enjoy the mild weather year-round, which allows for plenty of outdoor activities during a visit. Pristine beaches are free from crowds, so visitors easily find a relaxing spot to sunbathe. Topsail offers fishing, golfing, fine dining and plenty of opportunities to play in the water.
  
  

Golf

• Topsail Island offers various golf course, located a short drive away, on the mainland in Hampstead and Sneads Ferry. These golf courses afford any skill level to partake in a few hours of golf. Visitors enjoy the Topsail Greens Golf Club with an 18-hole, par-71 and 6,324-yard golf course. Golfers have a challenge with numerous water hazards and elevated greens. The club provides putting green, a pro shop, sports bar and chipping green. Greens fee range from $20 to 35. Another area golf course is the Golf-Digest four-star rating North Shore Country Club with 18 holes, 6,866 yards and a 134 slope rating. Golfers sometimes view alligators in the waterways of the pine tree lined golf course. Guests have access to the putting green, driving range, clubhouse and snack bar. Fees range from $35 to $55, which includes a golf cart.

Fish

• Plan a day of fly-fishing, pier fishing or surf fishing during your visit. Topsail Island is a top fishing destination for anglers. Tarpon, sea bass, king mackerel and tuna occupy the waters during cooler months, while whiting trout, bluefish, flounder, dolphin, wahoo and trout occupy the waters in the warmer seasons. • Millions have fun in the ocean off the coast of Topsail. Visitors and locals plan to snorkel, kayak, swim and scuba dive in the Atlantic Ocean. Carolina Divers, situated in Scuba City, supplies scuba rental equipment. People kayak and swim along the Jolly Roger Pier.
