Hijama – Part of the school of Islamic medicine

Originally horns and cups were heated to produce a negative pressure and it was utilized to draw blood and pus. But later it was discovered that this method was beneficial in treating other diseases also and slowly it developed into a therapeutic method. The contemporary way of performing Hijama cupping therapy is devoid of the use of fire. It only uses disinfected plastic cups with a pump to generate the vacuum within.
There are two different type of cupping available-
Hijama cannot be performed by anybody and everybody. It is important that it is performed by someone who is trained and an expert in this field.
