This is a story of a person who became famous for his dedication during late independence of India his name might not have been to the limelight of the society but many people of such a kind were worth for a recognition.
This is an article of Mr.
Rameshwar Nayek born in a small village in Bihar in the Year 1920.
He gained his higher education in Kolkata's Presidency college.
His willingness to contribute towards the society and for the government made him return to his village.
He was appointed as the 'Pradhan Lipik' in a village named Simdega in Bihar that time.
As there were no concrete roads in the village, the village could be reached only by swimming past the river named 'Shankh' and during the rains it was almost impossible to cross it as due to lack of drainage system the river would over flood with water.
Due to lack of any progress in the village and of technical difficulties the villagers were facing a lot of under development and it was recorded as one of the most underdeveloped villages of those times.
Due to this he showed immense self confidence and fervor to cross over the river by himself just as to reach for his work on time which distinguished him from other employees who were appointed by the government for the betterment of the village, this was carried on for about 5 years.
Apart from this he took an active participation in the Census 1971 and was a major lead for that project which at those times was very hard to execute.
During his stay in Simdega he had a strong feeling for the villagers who were facing poverty, sufferings and lack of education.
He wrote numerous articles and books stating their vains and request for appraisal from the government at those times.
He also took the pain of providing monetary support to those youngsters who wanted to learn and work further for their village at that time.
Seeing his toil and selflessness the then President Shri V.
V GIRI who was himself a Bharat Ratna holder awarded him the prestigious President's Award which made him an example to others for hard-work and love for the society.
He mesmerized the country by his work on economics and should be remembered and set an example for those who loose hopes with life.
He has never been mentioned in any of the books only the newspaper article, his certificate and memories remain as of now.
I will be back with some more individual stories which are lost in the books of history.
