How to Cut Concrete With a Diamond Blade
- 1). Mark a layout on the concrete where cuts will be made using a tape measure and a felt-tip marker. Snap lines on the concrete with a chalk box so they are straight.
- 2). Install the diamond blade to a concrete cutoff or a circular saw, depending on which tool you intend to use. Inspect the saw for any defects that may be a hazard while operating. Follow the saw manufacturer's tool prep guidelines prior to operating it.
- 3). Adjust the tool cutting table, if you are using one, to avoid damaging any objects that may be behind or under the concrete surface. Align the diamond blade with the line that is being cut on the concrete. Apply the saw's power by squeezing the trigger located on the tool handle, allowing the diamond blade to circulate at its full speed.
- 4). Bring the diamond blade down slowly into the concrete material keeping both hands on the tool. Slightly rock the tool back and forth to make a larger cut and avoid binding the diamond blade inside the concrete.
- 5). Push the saw in a forward motion when making cuts into the concrete. Stop the saw if needed to clean off the layout lines or to take a break.
