Journey To The Unknown
Walter was one of those children that always seemed geeky, but had a dream to because a music writer. He could sing and play instruments, but his goal was always to attend one of the many music production colleges in the United States. His parents had always encouraged him to do something that would pay well.
His college selection process was a breeze as well, and each college he spoke to was very excited to have someone with so much talent.
The night of his graduation his entire family was there to see him accept a scholarship for his excelled musical talent. Everyone was happy, but his mother was praying there was something else he would want to do.
Right after graduation, Walter was sitting around his house waiting for his acceptance into his music school. However, as time went on he realized that he didn't get accepted. Walter was always known for being a strong positive kid. Walter knew he had to keep his chin up and keep moving. He decided to start applying at all of the state colleges to see which college would take him.
Walter's mother had always hoped that he would become a doctor or lawyer, just anything that would make him a great life. Music to her was a pipe dream, and he would never get anywhere with a musical career. She also made sure that when his acceptance letter showed up, that she got it before anyone else in the family knew. She kept the letter hidden trying to decide how to handle what she had done and never let Walter find out the real truth.
Walter always knew he was destined for college. Now, he was realizing it was not the college he thought. He decided he needed to aggressively start applying to other state schools, so by the fall he would have a spot somewhere. His heart was breaking, but he continued to apply. Only one week after applying to a local state college, he was accepted with a full scholarship. His family was so happy, but he didn't feel the thrill. He felt as though he was going through the motions and his real passion was being ignored.
Walter's mother asked him to sit down and have a talk with her. Walter's father was also present and had no idea what was going on. She begged for forgiveness and handed Walter a letter. As he read the envelope he began to cry. He knew what she had done to him.
One week later Walter packed to head off to one of the best music production colleges with no regrets other than he probably would never speak to his mother again.
