How to Remove Tackiness From a Wall
- 1). Fill a spray bottle with warm water. Add 2 tbsp. of baking soda. You can also use 2 tbsp. of mild liquid dish soap.
- 2). Turn the electrical outlets off on the wall where you plan to remove the tackiness by shutting off the breaker on the main electrical panel. Spray the adhesive on the wall with the baking soda/water solution. Let it soak into the tacky adhesive for approximately five minutes.
- 3). Scrape the wall at a 30-degree angle with a plastic putty knife. Scrape gently to take the tacky adhesive off. It will begin to come off the wall in pieces. Do not scrape into the wall directly or rub too hard to keep from damaging the wall's finish.
- 4). Dry the wall with a clean cloth once the adhesive has come off the wall. Pour the baking soda/water mixture out of the spray bottle and rinse the bottle thoroughly. Mix 2 tbsp. of trisodium phosphate with warm water in the spray bottle. Spray the wall and sponge off the solution. This will get rid of any cloudiness and discoloration.
- 5). Rinse with water only and dry with a cloth. Place a fan in front of the wall. Turn the breakers back on and turn the fan on to dry the wall completely.
