How to Repair a Vinyl Pond Liner
- 1). Locate the hole or tear. If you cannot find it, wait a few days to see how far the water level will drop. Once the water has stopped dropping, you will know the hole is somewhere along this level.
- 2). Fill a spray bottle with milk and squirt it at the surface of the water, near the liner. You will know you have found the hole when you can see the milk being sucked away instead of dispersing.
- 3). Clean the area around the tear so that the patch will stick better. Cut the patch so that it extends at least 2 inches past the tear, on all sides. Round out the corners of the patch.
- 4). Spread the glue on the inside of the patch. Fold the patch to spread the glue around the entire inside.
- 5). Place the patch over the tear. Rub the patch onto the vinyl, from the center out to the sides, to remove any creases or bubbles. Hold the patch in place for a few minutes to allow the glue to adhere.
