How to Make a Cone Out of Foam Cord
- 1). Cut the needed length of foam cord with a pair of scissors. The length of cord needed depends on the size of the cone that you wish to make. A larger cone requires more cord than a smaller cone.
- 2). Create a circle out of the foam cord to create the base of the cone. Start with the end and bring the cord around to meet the end once again. The circular base of the cone determines the height of the cone. A larger base results in a taller cone. A smaller base will create a smaller cone.
- 3). Overlap the cord on top of the end of the cord to create the next layer. Spread a thin layer of glue on top of the bottom layer. Press the cord into the glue. This layer should be placed slightly on the the inner side of the bottom layer. This causes this layer to be slightly smaller in circumference than the last layer.
- 4). Repeat the process of creating slightly smaller layers until they reach a point at the top. Make the layers evenly come to a point by setting each one inside the previous equally. Don't make on sit further on the inner edge than the other. This creates a cone with indents and protrusions.
- 5). Cut the excess cord with a pair of scissors or a knife. For a smoother finish, don't make a straight, vertical cut. Cut the cord at an angle that starts at the top of the cord and gently lowers into the layer below it.
