If you currently have a card, you know how convenient and efficient it is to go shopping with it, your plastic buddy.
Big or small, nearly all establishments around the globe have credit card processing machines, making it convenient for consumers to pay with just a swipe or click of the mouse.
Aside from the convenience of cashless shopping, another good reason to acquire a card is, frequent use of this plastic money can earn you reward points.
Some merchant accounts give out free vacations to the best places in the world while some give back a certain percentage of your purchases using your card.
Believe it or not, you can actually benefit from using a card beyond being able to buy conveniently.
Using it can help you keep track of your spending habits.
Some companies even categorize your expenses so that you can easily monitor how much you are spending on a certain category monthly.
Although getting your first card may be a little difficult, it should be no problem as long as you are able to submit all the necessary requirements and prove that you are worthy of your merchant bank's trust.
First, you should open a bank account which can be either a checking or savings account.
This is to show that you have the money to pay for your credit.
You can then apply to the merchant bank which will usually take a few weeks to decide on approving or declining your application.
The initial credit limit of your credit card is low but if you pay your bills promptly, you will automatically be given a higher credit limit upon renewal of your card or sometime after a few months.
Of course, it is always best that you pay off your debt the soonest to avoid problems later on.
Shopping without bringing that cash is even beyond convenience.
It is also the safest way to go because then, you won't be having to deal with losing your money to snatchers or your own forgetfulness.
As long as you pay your obligations and the establishments where you shop are using credit card processing equipment, then you can use it all you want.
Just be sure to pay your credit promptly to avoid being declined.
