  Glenville is a 50-square-mile town in Schenectady County in New York State, incorporated in 1821. Its population, which includes the village of Scotia, grew from about 18,000 in 1950 to 29,000 in 1970, and has practically remained the same since then. Attractions include a number of parks and preserves, and an 1825-built one-room schoolhouse. Restaurants in and around the town of Glenville range from drive-ins to pizza joints to fine-dining restaurants. There are also a few with Chinese, Italian and other types of cuisine, but the majority are still the American restaurants.
  
  

Glen Sanders Mansion

• This place, 10.6 miles and 17 minutes from Glenville, is an inn, a restaurant and a venue for weddings and events. An Italian restaurant was opened as part of the $1 million remodeling of the Glen Sanders Mansion. There was a redesign of the restaurant dining room, with a brand new menu. The menu is traditional Italian cuisine with a modern theme. It offers fine dining, among the area's best choices. It is open Mondays to Saturdays for dinner, and for Sunday brunch. The lounge is open daily. The restaurant offers a dinner, dessert, lounge and Sunday menu, plus a wine list.

Apritivo Bistro

• Piatinni is Italian for small dishes and Apritivo Bistro, a restaurant 11.7 miles and 20 minutes from Glenville, serves great piatinni selections, among them stuffed artichokes and sushis. In addition, it offers specialty pizzas and bigger plate selections such as grilled 14-ounce New York strip, sea bass Sicilian, veal short ribs and prosciutto-wrapped salmon. It is open for lunch Mondays to Fridays, and for dinner everyday. Its seven menus include lunch, dinner, dessert, bar, private party, catering and proctors.

Raindancer Restaurant

• This steak restaurant, eight miles and 16 minutes from Glenville, was established in 1980 by Doreen and Walter Parath. It survived tough times with improvements and renovations, ample portions and top-notch service. It has multiple dining rooms, and a cocktail lounge that has flat screen TV and carries a wide variety of wines and beers (13 on tap and 13 bottled). It has a dinner, lunch, children's, banquet and a dessert menu, with free Wi-Fi in the restaurant. Some of the specialties include: five-ounce lobster tail with a New York strip, Alaskan crab legs and 12-ounce prime rib.
