A suburb of Rochester, New York, Henrietta and the surrounding area in Monroe County offer numerous activities for all ages. Whether you're a senior interested in connecting with like-minded peers, a parent searching for family-friendly recreation or a nature enthusiast, you're sure to find something to meet your needs.

Parks
If you're interested in enjoying some outdoor recreation, be sure to visit one of Henrietta's nine public parks. Spend some time getting active at the many available softball, volleyball and soccer fields or meet up at the parks' tennis and basketball courts for a game. Many of the parks also have walking trails and fitness courses as well. Other notable features include the Veteran's Memorial Park's ice skating rink and the Martin Road Park's catch-and-release fishing pond.

Camping
If a few hours at a park isn't enough outdoor recreation, consider traveling about an hour to the northern coast of Monroe County. There you'll find the Hamlin Beach State Park where you can enjoy nature during your stay at the park campgrounds. According to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the park offers visitors 10 miles of hiking and biking trails in addition to trails for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. While staying at one of the almost 300 family or group campsites at Hamlin Beach, you can spend time swimming, fishing or just enjoying a picnic near the Lake Ontario shore.

Attractions
Located about 20 minutes from Henrietta in Rochester is the Seneca Park Zoo open year-round. Children and adults alike will enjoy viewing the large number of animals on-site, including elephants, polar bears, bald eagles and collection of reptiles. If you're looking for another entertaining yet educational option appropriate for kids, plan a visit to Rochester's Strong National Museum of Play, just a 15-minute drive from Henrietta. Children can tour the National Toy Hall of Fame, explore reading in a life-size pop-up book or visit the indoor butterfly garden.

Senior Activities
The Henrietta Senior Center organizes events and trips designed to keep seniors active--both mentally and physically. Open daily Monday through Friday, you can take part in senior activities as long as you are at least 60. You can participate in fitness classes, receive nutrition counseling, attend social events and converse with others while enjoying the center's weekly senior lunches.

Special Events
While there are several things to do in Henrietta year-round, be sure to check out some of the special events occurring in the town. Henrietta is home to the annual Monroe County Fair, featuring rides, crafts, exhibits and a talent show. Plan a visit to the town's Gro-Moore Farm Market and Garden Center for the Fall Festival; you can pick pumpkins, play games and check out the petting zoo.
