Enjoying Florida on Interstate 95

Interstate 95 is one of the important freeways in the eastern part of Florida. It typically takes over 10 hours to travel the entire freeway from Jacksonville to Miami, but being in Florida, there can be meaningful interruptions along the way. Whether your goal is to see the city, the beach, play golf, or simply take a drive, Interstate 95 is one of the absolute best road trips one can take in Florida. Want some options to get you started? Here are some of the places you can see:

The Henry Holland Buckman Bridge, Jacksonville, FL, I-295 Bypass - Crossing the St. John's River in the southern part of Jacksonville, this 3.1 mile bridge has one of the most spectacular crossings in Florida (although this can be said for many of the bridges in Florida). If you're going in either direction on I-95 and don't need to drive through downtown Jacksonville, take the I-295 bypass and check out the views on this bridge. It is picturesque northbound or southbound.

St. Augustine, Exit 318 - According to Wikipedia, St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement and port in the continental United States Of America, founded in 1565. St. Augustine was the capital of the Florida Territory until 1824, after the capital was relocated to Tallahassee (today's state capital). It has a vibrant heritage, and this historical past has made it the tourist attraction that it is today. Check out the Flagler College Tour, along with the wealth of museums, and Fort Matanas.

Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, FL, Exit 261A (southbound), Exit 261 (northbound) - You are able to tour the famous race track (home of the €Great American Race€), as well as drive on the track too! The Richard Petty Driving Experience can really get your adrenaline pumping. The track is 2.5 miles long and it is also host for a lot of other events besides racing, including car shows, photo shoots, and even motorcycle testing.

Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, FL, Exit 205 - Even though the Kennedy Space Center no longer launches shuttles, they do have a visitor facility where you could catch a film in the IMAX movie theater, try out the Shuttle Launch Experience, to take the Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour. Tickets are a bit on the pricey side but really worth the visit, especially for the space or astronaut fanatic.
