How to Remove a Bat from Your House in the Night
- 1). Turn on lights inside and outside your home to allow the bat to see its way out. Contrary to popular belief, bats are not actually blind. Dealing with a bat in a well-lit area will also help you keep track of the bat's location inside your home.
- 2). Open all of the doors and windows in the room in which the bat is trapped. Bats are unnerved when trapped inside a house, so they want out just as badly as you want them out. Often, bats will find their way out of a house via an open door or window.
- 3). Prepare yourself to be more assertive if the bat doesn't leave on its own. Put on your gloves and wait for the bat to find a place from which to hang. Carefully place the coffee can over the bat and slide the cardboard behind the bat to trap it in the can. Take the can outside and release the bat. If the bat is too scared to fly out right away, set the coffee can down and leave it. The bat will eventually fly away.
