What Are Red Moles on the Skin?
Description
Red moles are characterized by a small and red or rosy lump beneath the skin that is tender to the touch.
Causes
Red moles may be directly inherited and already present at birth. They may be caused by overexposure to the UV rays coming from the sunlight and by other atypical mole syndromes which are also hereditary in nature.
Possible Cancer Risk
Upon observing sudden changes in the size and color of red moles, it needs to be immediately checked by a doctor to be determined if it has become a potential risk for cancer.
Precaution
A suspected cancerous red mole may be subject to a physician-ordered biopsy prior to mole removal surgeries and treatments. A monthly checkup of a suspected cancerous mole may be ordered monitor its changes in size, color and location.
Treatment
Excision, cauterization, cryosurgery, laser surgery and electro surgery are just some of the surgical techniques used in removing red moles. Cancerous red moles pose serious health risks if neglected.
