Everyday Household Tips

    Maintain the Bathrooms

    • Bathrooms are used by home residents and guests alike, and they are a prime area for bacteria and germs if not cleaned regularly. Rather than allow a bathroom to become dirty and embarrassing, make sure to clean daily.

Clean the toilet seat, rim, and bowl each day to prevent bacteria buildup. After bathing, make sure to hang and fold all towels so that they are out of the way. Towels, especially when wet, can present a safety hazard if left on the floor. Put away all bathroom products such as deodorant, hair supplies, and shaving equipment after use to keep a bathroom looking organized.

    Make a Schedule

    • All members of a household are more likely to contribute to its overall cleanliness if they are given duties.

Establish and maintain a regular schedule that assigns different tasks to different members of the household. To create a fair schedule that does not grow old and boring, try switching tasks from week to week. Creating a schedule of chores will also help ensure that every aspect of home maintenance is taken care of on a regular basis. It is often easy to forget certain tasks if they are not documented on paper. Chore schedules can serve as a reminder, too, of when a task was last completed.

    Clean up Gradually

    • To prevent general disarray around the house, it is important for people to pick up after themselves throughout the day.

Make sure to place all dirty laundry in a receptacle, make the bed after waking up, and prepare all used kitchen utensils for washing. Kitchen utensils and appliances are much more difficult to clean if any food or other mess is not taken care of immediately. Dried food and substances are much harder to remove without the use of extra tools. Picking up utensils also ensures that the kitchen, a room that can easily spread germs, is a cleaner environment. As soon as the trash can becomes full, make sure to empty it into the dumpster to prevent foul odors and the attraction of insects.

While these tasks are simple, they can feel much more difficult if not attended to in small doses throughout the day.
