How to Plant Manchurian Apricots
- 1). Dig a hole that is twice the diameter of and slightly deeper than the temporary container your Manchurian apricot seedling is in.
- 2). Fill the hole with water and allow it to drain.
- 3). Pull the Manchurian apricot out of its container. If the container does not come easily, don't force it. Cut it away with a pair of garden shears.
- 4). Pull the roots out gently from the root ball to loosen and spread them out.
- 5). Plant the tree in the hole so that the top of its root ball is slightly higher than the soil line.
- 6). Water the soil with a slow running hose until the planting site is saturated with water. Provide the tree with 2 inches of water weekly until it establishes itself. After you see signs of new growth signaling that the Manchurian apricot is established, it will only need supplemental water in times of drought and in spring when it is flowering and beginning to set fruit.
