The Symptoms of radiculopathy are a combination of tingling, radiating pain from the lower back down to the legs and sometimes numbness in the legs.
The clinical diagnosis for the symptoms I have just describe is radiculopathy, of which sciatica is one of the symptoms associated with this condition.
Remember that sciatica is just one of the manifestation of radiculopathy, however most people refer to the symptom as the main condition sciatica.
Sciatica is described as the protruding of the disc from its normal position, this putts pressure on root of the sciatic nerve.
Most will only suffer a few days at the hand of sciatica, but for others they could have the symptoms for 10 - 20 years.
Long term cover up of the symptoms is not the way to go, the root reason of the condition in the first place is what needs to be addressed.
The temporary treatment of the symptoms should not be your only method of dealing with sciatica.
Most of your efforts should be in obtaining treatment that will address the root causes of the sciatica, because failure to correct the issue can lead to permanent damage of the sciatic nerve.
The more common cause of sciatica is simply wear and tear on the bones of the spine causing pressure of the discs on the nerves sciatica can also be due to a sudden injury.
Most suffers are between the ages of 28 and 55 years of age but it's not uncommon to see sciatica in people much younger or older.
Sciatic treatment vs cure Removing the obstruction from the sciatic nerve is the only way to provide lasing results.
There are specific exercises and diet that will reverse the bulging disc naturally without the need for surgery and this is obviously my personal preference.
The other option is surgery, the name of this procedure is microdiscectomy, even the name alone sends chills you know where.
Microdiscectomy entails incisions though the back and cutting out the "bad" disc that is resting on your sciatic nerve.
Back surgeries are infamous for going wrong and if you do further research on line you will see the horror stories that abound, but if all goes well there is still the long grueling recovery.
A lot of times doctors recommend surgery without looking for non surgical alternatives, but you should always keep surgery as a last resort.
