How to Replace a 1993 Trooper Oxygen Sensor
- 1). Raise your Trooper with a hydraulic jack until the wheels clear the ground. Place jack stands until the frame to support the full weight of the truck. Remove the hydraulic jack and set it aside.
- 2). Crawl under the vehicle on the driver's side near the front. Locate the oxygen sensor, which is mounted into the exhaust pipe near the back side of the catalytic converter.
- 3). Squeeze the tabs on the wiring connector together and remove the wiring harness from the oxygen sensor.
- 4). Spray penetrating fluid around the base of the oxygen sensor where it comes in contact with the exhaust pipe. Allow the fluid to work in for a few minutes before continuing.
- 5). Remove the oxygen sensor from the exhaust pipe by turning it out in a counterclockwise direction with an adjustable wrench. Compare the old sensor with the new one to ensure you have the correct replacement. Discard the old sensor.
- 6). Apply thread locker to the threads of the new oxygen sensor. Thread the sensor into the exhaust pipe and tighten it clockwise with an adjustable wrench. Further tighten the sensor with a torque wrench to 30 foot-pounds.
- 7). Push the wiring connector back onto the sensor until it snaps into place. Raise the Trooper with a hydraulic jack and remove the jack stands. Lower the hydraulic jack and remove it from under the truck.
