Acid Heartburn Healed Naturally

If ever a condition was misnamed it is acid heartburn.
Firstly the condition is a digestive problem and has nothing whatsoever to do with the heart and secondly although the burning sensation is caused by acid the cure will not come from neutralising the acidity.
Your digestive system needs acids in the stomach.
They are there to continue the process of breaking down food that started in the mouth (more accurately the process started on your plate when you cut food into manageable chunks).
The problem is not having acid in the stomach; your stomach is well equipped to deal with acidity.
The problem is acid escaping from the stomach and passing up into the esophagus, which is not designed to have contact with strong acids.
To deal with Acid heartburn naturally you need to support each part of the process of digestion.
  • Always make sure you chew your food thoroughly.
My granny often told me that the stomach has no teeth.
Your stomach will really appreciate you delivering well chewed food.
The smaller pieces of food you swallow after chewing will be well mixed with enzymes from your saliva and the process of breaking down food will have already begun.
  • Take time to eat.
Put your fork down while you chew to slow your eating.
Have you ever noticed how many times you suffer indigestion after rushing a meal? Your body is giving a very clear message.
  • Don't over eat.
Your stomach can only do its job if there is room for the food to mix with acid.
If you overfill your stomach the gastric juices will start to enter the esophagus
  • Give your digestive system plenty of fibre.
Eating fruit, vegetables and wholegrain cereal with every meal will ensure your intestine can work efficiently.
  • Don't fill your stomach with gas from carbonated drinks.
If your stomach is full of gas it can't do its job and you will suffer with heartburn attacks
  • Give you digestive system time to do its job.
If you go straight to bed after a meal it is likely acids will flow out of your stomach leading to night time heartburn.
There is a similar problem with carrying out vigorous exercise after a full meal.
Be kind to your stomach and give it some time and t will be kind to you
  • Try to avoid neutralising stomach acid by taking over the counter antacid remedies.
Your stomach needs the acid and will try to produce more.
Instead work with your digestion by using herbal remedies such as ginger, fennel, chamomile and bay leaves.
These herbs can be made into teas that will soothe your indigestion without creating an imbalance in your body
  • Drink plenty of water.
Your digestive system needs it at every stage.
A glass of cool water is also a great way of getting immediate relief from heartburn as it will flush acid back into the stomach.
