Control Achieve Change: Power to the Poor

I heard is said once that America is the only country where people have the choice to be poor. If so, then by understanding the choices of economics and our individual mindsets about money (where it comes from, how and why we use it) we can change our personal economics; then our neighborhoods, our towns, our city, our county, our state, our nation! Economics is a privilege, not a right, and the more we understand our responsibilities, the more of the economy we possess. This author does a good job of teaching this concept using current life as well as historic examples of personal finance playing out, successfully, as well as disparagingly.

BY CHANGING HOW YOU THINK
There are 46.2 million people living in poverty. With all the assistance our government offers, food stamps, welfare, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, free school lunch, free education and so much more - We still have 46.2 million people living in poverty? How can we change this?
One: by changing how you think.
Let me first make this one statement - €the poor do not have to be poor€.
They - the poor, the 98% of Americans can change their circumstances. In fact they can even buy and own the rich. It's time that the 98 percent realized the power that they truly have. I believe that the poor, the 98%, have the capability, the intelligence, the courage and the means to reduce poverty as a whole. I believe that these people, who are classified as poor, have more to offer than they themselves know and believe.
The truth is that the United States economy is strong because of the so called poor. That the only reason U.S. companies succeed is because they rely on the poor to make them strong.
Before you cry foul and rise up in defense of your political preference - let me explain my point of view.
The reason I say that both sides are right and both sides are wrong are due to some simple beliefs that I hold. Let me start with this quote:
€Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.€
~ Chinese Proverb
The reason why I believe the €Large Government€ or government solution is wrong, is because it goes against the basics of this quote and the spirit of every free man (person). The desire to excel, to thrive, to achieve, to seek greatness is dulled when the government is the solution to all your problems. I speak from experience - while many may say that it does not happen, I know family, in-laws, relatives and old friends who have decided in their hearts that it is easier to stay home and collect government tax payer assistance than to find earnest work.
Again, I speak from experience; the government has converted a system that was once geared towards building a safety net under people who have fallen onto hard times, into a system that creates, to a certain degree, a dependent people - dependent on the system and those who run it.
